The Sun Must Set to Rise Again by Logan Hagege

The image above is a digital image of Logan Hagege’s beautiful painting, The Sun Must Set to Rise Again. This painting sits across from me in my office. I was drawn to this painting because I knew the artist and I found it to be aesthetically pleasing. However, like any good work of art, it began to generate in my mind rich narratives and complex metaphors. As I sit with my patients, I look at this painting and see the journey a patient and therapist take together in psychotherapy…

My Approach

In addition to my Ketamine Therapy training, I have been trained psychoanalytically. My approach is person-centered, relational, and emotionally-focused. It is informed by Ketamine Therapy, psychoanalytic theory, and the following Evidenced-Based Practices: ACT, Emotionally Focused Therapy, Compassion Focused Therapy, and Trauma-Focused CBT.

In addition, I have completed training in psychedelic psychotherapy and Ketamine Therapy at both the Multidisciplinary Association for Psychedelic Studies (typically referred to as MAPS) and Polaris Insight Center. Where traditional psychotherapy mostly began in Austria with Freud, psychedelic psychotherapy’s lineage began in indigenous cultures and their healing rituals all over the world. I am trained in both approaches and strive to bring the best of both to my Ketamine Therapy work with my patients.

I have provided psychotherapy to the San Francisco community since 2004 and I have been licensed as a clinical psychologist since 2009. I have developed and directed behavioral health programs since 2013 and I have supervised and trained over 75 therapists. My practice is located in Noe Valley in San Francisco and many of my clients work for tech companies downtown and on the peninsula.

About Me

My psychology training began years before I read my first science journal, as an artist. Prior to pursuing my doctoral degree in Psychology, I received a Master of Fine Arts degree. As an artist, I became fascinated by how human connection and creative expression can lead to individual growth. Currently, I work with adults, couples, children, and adolescents in private practice.
